Kenny Berlin, President

As the HTBA President, Kenny is responsible for laying out the strategy of the club and coordinating activities to promote career preparation and professional networking for club members.  Kenny's career focuses are product management and strategy in the high tech internet industry.  Prior to Anderson he worked for four years as a structural engineer in Washington, DC designing buildings.  At the same time he started an internet B2C company called Blingfactor (www.blingfactor.com) which still exists today, and has expanded its offerings into B2B with a product called SalaryView.  During his summer internship, Kenny worked at Amazon.com as a product manager in the MP3 group where he focused on analyzing data to perform a customer lifetime value analysis.  Kenny graduated from Tufts University with a BS in Civil Engineering before earning a MS degree in Structural Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.  Kenny plays tennis, basketball, and softball regularly, is a huge fan of Pearl Jam, and is a diehard Philadelphia sports fan.

   

Colby Smith, Vice President of Business Development

Colby is pursuing his MBA with an emphasis on new media strategies. Prior to Anderson, Colby spent three years at KPSP Television (CBS affiliate) developing digital distribution strategies and managing the content produced by the news and entertainment divisions. His goal is to develop a fresh monetization model for online content by utilizing emerging technologies and anticipating shifts in consumer behavior. As a Stanford graduate with a degree in Economics, Colby enjoys discussing Arrow’s impossibility theorem and watching Jim Harbaugh press conferences. He will defeat any challenger in Oakland A’s trivia.

   

Shirin Eghtesadi, Vice President of Entrepreneurship

Shirin is focused on Product Management and Internal Strategic Operations. She started her career at Teradyne, a semiconductor company manufacturing Automatic Test Equipment, in Client Success Management where she was responsible for managing client relationship, launching new software releases, and designing the future product roadmaps. During the summer of 2010, Shirin will be a Project Manager at Cornerstone OnDemand, a Software company offering HR management software. She will be working on redesigning business processes for consulting services, and designing new product features. As the HTBA VP of Entrepreneurship, Shirin is responsible for creating new contacts with internet and software startups and enable students to get familiar with them and hopefully create career opportunities for those interested. Shirin received her MSc in Electrical Engineering from University of Southern California and enjoys traveling and sports.

   

Brian C. Chen, Vice President of Events

As VP of Events, Brian is responsible for organizing and coordinating key activities that enable career preparation and placement for HTBA members. He is also the President of the Strategy & Operations Management Association (SOMA). Prior to attending UCLA Anderson, Brian was a strategy consultant at Accenture for three years. At Accenture, he helped various Fortune 500 clients improve their corporate strategic direction and operational performance. At UCLA Anderson, Brian is focusing on marketing and general management. During the summer of 2010, he was a brand management intern at NBC Universal. Brian graduated from Northwestern University with a BS in Industrial Engineering. He enjoys writing songs, playing guitar, singing, and cheering for Chicago sports.

   

Kevin Cho, Vice President of Events

Kevin is focused on technology and automotive product management/marketing.  Prior to Anderson, Kevin spent four years at Chevron Corporation in the global IT group.  After spending the first two years as an enterprise infrastructure specialist, he transitioned into a business analyst role focusing on global business process design and ERP system implementation.  As the HTBA VP of Events, Kevin is responsible for initiating and organizing various events and activities, such as Career Nights and company visits, to promote career search and networking for club members.  During the summer of 2010, Kevin will be working at Toyota in the Lexus Product Planning & Strategy team.  He received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley in 2005.  He enjoys traveling, playing basketball, singing and salsa-dancing, and is an avid LA Lakers and Cal Football fan.

   

Jitin Chopra, Vice President of Events

Jitin is a full-time MBA student at Anderson and is focusing on Strategy and Operations. At Anderson, as a VP of Events of the High Tech Business Association, Jitin is responsible for coordinating activities to promote career preparation and professional networking for club members. This summer Jitin is interning in Operations Strategy at Gap Inc. Jitin holds a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science and Engineering and prior to Anderson, worked with Infosys Technologies Ltd as a software engineer and later as a project manager. At Infosys, Jitin worked on several projects for Fortune 500 clients in the retail, real estate asset management and navigation technologies space. Additionally, Jitin has been an entrepreneur in the hospitality and real estate industry. He was instrumental in the acquisition and turnaround of a business hotel and also conducted due diligence and negotiations for several other real estate investments.

   

Shan Fernando, Vice President of Events

Shan is focused on corporate finance in the technology industry. He previously worked as a consultant at Mercer for 4 years, where he helped his clients manage their financial risk. As VP of events, Shan is responsible for organizing and coordinating key events round the year. During the Summer of 2010, Shan will be an intern in the Graduate Management Associate Program at Toyota, focusing on the corporate finance within the Automotive Decision Support group. He received his B.S. in Mathematics and Economics from UCLA. He enjoys snowboarding, tennis, and traveling.

   

Krithika Moorti, Vice President of External Relations

Krithika is focusing on Marketing and Strategy at UCLA Anderson. As the VP External Affairs she handles HTBA’s strategic partnerships and relationships with the tech industry and with Anderson’s Parker Career center. Krithika also serves as the Co-Vice President of Alumnae Outreach and Communication for the Women's Business Connection and as a Riordan mentor. Prior to business school, Krithika worked as the team lead for IP Multimedia Solutions at Ericsson where she was responsible for system management, data analysis and test strategy. Krithika spent her summer at AT&T in Dallas where she worked for the U-Verse division in operations strategy. Krithika graduated from SMU in 2003 and enjoys cooking and playing softball in her free time.

   

Rajesh Agrawal, Vice President of FEMBA

Rajesh's areas of interest include Business Strategy, Operations and Product Management. He is an analytical and customer-oriented Project Manager with 10 years of experience in the telecom industry. As the VP of FEMBA, Rajesh represents the fully-employed members of HTBA and is tasked with organizing events outside of the Greater LA Area. He graduated from one of the top National Institute of Technology (NIT) in India with a degree in Computer Science. Rajesh lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area and is one of the fly-in students. Outside of work, he enjoys volunteering for non-profits, running and photography.

   

Emily Chen, Vice President of Finance and Operations

Emily is a full-time MBA student at UCLA Anderson with a focus on marketing and strategy. She graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering. Prior to business school, Emily spent four years working in the high-tech industry in Silicon Valley, which honed her passion and expertise in technology. As a network traffic manager at Yahoo, she gleaned unique insights into how users interact with media and the internet. Prior to working at Yahoo, she spent two years at Intel as a product planner, where she gained a solid understanding of manufacturing and operations in the high-tech sector through managing the front end supply chain of semiconductor products. This summer, she is working in the TelePresence market development group at Cisco Systems.

   

Jessica Lan, Vice President of Marketing

Jessica is a full-time MBA student at UCLA Anderson focusing on Strategy and Technology Management. As VP of Marketing, Jessica focuses on building Anderson’s brand name as a strong high- tech management school in the minds of recruiters, companies, and organizations. She received her bachelor’s degree from UCLA in Computer Science, graduating summa cum laude.  Prior to Anderson, Jessica worked eight years at IBM where she developed deep technical expertise in designing and delivering large-scale enterprise software and services as well as broad experience in leading in teams ranging from small entrepreneurial groups to global cross-site environments. Her projects have ranged from enterprise mobile device applications and search engines to social collaboration and employee productivity services.  In her most recent position in the IBM Office of the CIO, she identified and pursued opportunities for both improving employee productivity and growing employee presence outside of the enterprise. She has led negotiations with external vendors, defined milestones and required deliverables, as well as headed proof-of-concept solutions. Jessica’s interests include snowboarding, distance running, and beach volleyball.  She will spend the summer as a business development intern at UtopiaCompression, a high-tech startup, where she will focus on overall corporate strategy, market research, commercialization options, and venture fund-raising.

   

Divya Ganesh, Vice President of Outreach

Divya is focused on Product Management. She previously worked in the software industry for about 6 years, working with high profile clients including Visa International, KLA Tencor and Nokia. As the HTBA VP of Student Outreach, Divya is responsible for overseeing career preparation activities for club members. During the summer of 2010, Divya will be an Extreme Blue, Business Intern at IBM, focusing on open source technology. She received her B.E in Electronics & Communications Engineering from India and M.S in Electrical Engineering from Santa Clara University in the Bay Area. She enjoys travel, and lists Costa Rica among her favorite places in the world.

   

Max Ohlendorf, Vice President of Outreach

Max Ohlendorf is pursuing a dual degree program at UCLA Anderson, as an MBA candidate and also a master's student in Computer Science. Max graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in computer science from UC San Diego in 2003, where he was a National Merit Scholar and recipient of the UC Regents scholarship.  Prior to matriculating at UCLA, Max worked as an engineering lead at Qualcomm's Internet Services division. He led teams of engineers in San Diego and Hyderabad, India, working on embedded programming and systems integration for Qualcomm's BREW (Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless) platform. Max was also a contributor on the software development for the next generation of Qualcomm's BREW Mobile Platform.

   

Srinivas Ananth, Vice President of Student Affairs

Srinivas has over 8 years experience in engineering management, business and product development in the high tech industry, having worked in Texas Instruments and Acision. As the Vice President for Student Affairs, Srinivas is responsible for organizing various insider sessions as well as assisting with interview preparation. He will also be the primary club interface for companies and alumni wishing to recruit Anderson students. During the summer, Srinivas is doing his internship in Product Marketing at Intel, as part of the Accelerated Leadership Program. He enjoys watching movies, playing poker, and exploring the outdoors, and hopes to catch up on all these activities during the summer.

   

Matthew Waymost, Vice President of Technology

Matthew is an MBA candidate at UCLA Anderson School of Management, where he is currently studying technology management and entrepreneurship. Prior to business school, Matthew worked in the consumer internet space for three years as a build engineer. At Experian Consumer Direct, he worked on new product launches for partners such as American Express, Discover, and USAA as well as for new internal ventures such as ProtectMyId.com, FamilySecure.com, and GreenUmbrella.com. Matthew graduated from Columbia University in 2005 with a BS in Computer Science. For the summer, he is working as a Product Intern for Estalea, a high-tech incubator, based in Santa Barbara.

Professor Foster teaches High Technology Management, Business Plan Development and the management consulting Field Study. He taught half-time for 16 years, while a full-time executive, and then joined the faculty full time in 1999.

He created and teaches the popular High Technology Management course each year, teaching it to over 650 students during the past 13 years. The course was recognized by Business 2.0 magazine as one of the reasons why Anderson was selected as one of "the 20 tech-savviest business schools" in the U.S.

He has taught Business Plan Development every year since 1999, part of the school's Price Center for Entrepreneurship. This entrepreneurship program is recognized as one of the leading programs in the world, with the Financial Times naming it the "#1 program in the world" for three consecutive years. He is also the faculty advisor for the school's Venture Capital Investment Competition team.

Professor Foster is the Director of the Global Access Program (GAP), the international field study and MBA thesis requirement for Anderson's Fully-Employed MBA students. He provides overall academic direction of the program including the design and development of GAP's 6 month integrative, capstone course for over 180 students and a faculty of 8 professors. He manages executive seminars for participating international company executives and the formal business plan presentations at the conclusion of the course. He also manages the relationships with GAP's international partners from trade and technology development agencies located in Finland, Australia, Italy, New Zealand, Spain and Chile.

Bob has taught Field Study every year since 1983, advising over 150 management consulting field studies, most of them for high technology firms such as Microsoft, Intel, Qualcomm, Nokia and Hewlett-Packard, as well as many startup technology firms. His teams have won many awards for outstanding consulting studies.

He is Executive Director of the Center for Management in the Information Economy, which focuses on analysis of business models and best practices in high technology businesses. Bob is the faculty advisor to the High Tech Business Association student club.

During a 17-year period from 1983 to 1999, he was president/CEO of four different high technology firms. Products include software (enterprise resource management, financial applications, customer relationship management, digital mapping, GPS), factory automation, industrial machinery, map publishing and composite plastics.

For seven years, Bob was President of Thomas Bros. Maps, the second largest map publisher in the U.S. He managed its conversion to digital mapping, introduced digital maps on CDs and the Internet. For 13 years, he worked at Xerox Computer Services, initially as VP of Software Development responsible for 300 programmers and analysts. Later he was VP of Marketing and Sales with a staff of 500 and 100 direct salesmen. XCS was a startup division that grew to a profitable $100 million division.

In 2002, the full-time MBA class voted him one of the top five Most Outstanding Professors at the UCLA Anderson School. The Fully Employed MBA class of 2003 and 2005 voted him the most outstanding professor. He is a member of the board of several high technology firms, ranging from $50 million to startups. He is a member of the Tech Coast Angels and the Pasadena Angels, both angel investing organizations.
